MFSI-II Helps Slavutych Increase the Comfort of its Citizens
   On 30 June 2015, the City of Slavutych received approval from the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine for funding the Improving the Energy Efficiency of Government-Funded Institutions and Street Lighting in the City of Slavutych project. The Municipal Finance Strengthening Initiative (MFSI-II) Roll-out Project assisted the municipality in preparing the application to the ministry.
   The project’s objective is to implement a number of energy efficient measures General Educational School No.4 and modernize street lighting on Slavutych’s main street.
   The project will enable the city to cut the consumption of thermal energy while maintaining the optimal temperature for children while in school, and will reduce the consumption of electricity byreplacing mercury-vapour lamps with LED lights. Implementing the project will have a significant environmental impact. In particular, CO2 emissions will be reduced by 191.0 metric tons per year, thermal energy savings will amount to 549.0MW per year, and electricity savings will total 66MW per year.
   The successful realization of the Improving the Energy Efficiency of Government-Funded Institution and Street Lighting in the City of Slavutych project will help save UAH 753,800 of public money annually, and will improve the comfort and health of the city’s residents.
